From contourslovenia.com: One of the main goals of the project was to cross the distance of the Slovenian border, I.e. 1,382 km. Slovenia is a very diverse and green country, as forests cover almost 60% of the entire surface of the country and the landscape is quite hilly.
The route plan was set to run as close as possible to the existing state border and as much as possible on Slovenian territory, but on certain sections riding with road or gravel bike was not possible. Also, in a couple of cases, the route crossed through neighboring countries for a few kilometers as it was the most optimal route. In the end, however, the entire route was drawn as close as possible to the shape of the existing Slovenian border, which was also the goal and purpose of the project.
